    The Amasa Historical Museum is located at 208 Pine Street, twelve miles north of Crystal Falls at US-2, just off US-141, on the west end of downtown Amasa, Michigan. It is open to the public 7 days a week between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and at other times by appointment. Appointments may be made, even on short notice, by calling Kelly at (906) 822-7714. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.

    A one-time city/township hall, jail, and firehouse, the edifice was built in 1894, with wood siding and hardwood floors. It was sold to the Amasa Historical Society by Hematite Township in 1997 for $1.00!

    Visitors to the Museum will find displays of mining and logging activities which were important  to the  foundation and growth of Amasa, a major hub for logging and transportation in the early 1900's.

    Ongoing renovation of the second floor of the Museum is being done to replicate "The Streets of Old Amasa".

    As renovations progress, you may want to revisit the Museum periodically to enjoy the updated exhibits.
